I'm insured by State Farm specifically for pet care services. Coming from an extensive insurance background, providing this coverage and peace of mind for my clients is very important to me.
I've created a new client on boarding process that includes “meet and greet” events for first time clients. This gives the humans AND pets an opportunity to meet prior to booking the first appointment. I feel it’s necessary to determine that we are the right fit for each other before committing to scheduling a service together.
The Pet Industry is widely unregulated. This means that many individuals offering pet services have no formal or hands on training in working with pets. Many individuals pay large industry groups for "membership certifications". This may look impressive on paper but in reality these individuals have simply paid for a title rather than actual education! As a pet professional and pet parent, I have voluntarily gone above and beyond to educate myself in many different facets of pet care, including professional classroom training as well as hands on experience.
I have earned 3 separate certifications in Pet CPR & First Aid, including Pet Tech, Barkleigh and The American Red Cross Training Services. I have also trained with Pet Tech to complete their instructor training program, earning my Pet CPR & First Aid Instructor certification. Through extensive education I have developed a well rounded perspective of pet safety.
I am an A.K.C. SAFE Certified Handler; I have voluntarily attended in person, hands on training to learn proper techniques to physically handle dogs, as well as how to identify and diffuse red flag behaviors that can lead to dangerous situations.
I’ve also taken many in person seminars across the county with leading industry professionals on a variety of topics. Here are a few examples:
*How to Deal With Reactive Dogs in Training Class by Debbie Oliver, professional animal trainer known for Animal Acting classes and trick classes. Absolutely incredible course content in how to recognize red flags in dogs and how to diffuse potentially dangerous situations.
*Hemp Oil {CBD} For Our Pets, What You Need To Know by Dr. E.A. Sulkowski, D.M.D., member of the International Academy of Medicine and Toxicology. CBD and pet health is been a hot topic over the past several years. This seminar explained the science behind CBD and it’s origins, the science of it’s affects on pets and the science behind its many uses.
*All About Doggy Daycare by Robin Bennett, CPDT-KA, a leading industry professional and author. Tips and guidelines for understanding group play and individual personalities, as well as red flags.
In pursuing my passion for healthy and happy pets, I continue to train and educate myself. I am currently training to become certified in Holistic Carnivore Nutrition as well as Canine Massage Therapy.
